What Good Will Hunting Taught Me About Life at 33

Image
What Good Will Hunting Taught Me About Life at 33 A few months ago, I watched Good Will Hunting , a movie that has since become one of my all-time favorites. As the story unfolded, I found myself reflecting on my own life in ways I hadn't expected. Not because I am a mathematical genius like Will Hunting, but because I saw parts of myself in the way he viewed people, life, and the world around him. For those unfamiliar with the movie, Good Will Hunting follows the story of Will, a young janitor working at MIT who possesses extraordinary intellectual gifts. Despite his genius, he struggles with his past, his relationships, and his place in the world. Eventually, he is pushed into counseling with Sean Maguire, a therapist who approaches him differently from everyone else. What follows is not merely a story about intelligence, but a story about understanding, healing, and what it means to truly connect with another human being. Reflecting it back at 33 years old, I realized that the ...

Are You My Soulmate?

Image
They call it  soul  mate for a reason, because it is something that lives within, not something of the body. It is not merely a person who fits beside you, but a presence that resonates within you. A soulmate is like the other half of your being. Not meant to complete you, but to help you remember what you already are. Not always meant to stay, but to help both souls grow in the way they were destined to. Sometimes I find myself asking the question quietly, almost like a whisper to the wind:  Are  you my soulmate? It’s not a question born of loneliness, but of recognition — a strange familiarity that stirs without reason. I’ve felt that pull before… that sense that someone, somewhere, exists on the same invisible frequency. Not because I’ve seen them, but because my soul remembers something my mind cannot name. Beyond the Idea of Romance The world often speaks of soulmates as lovers, two perfect halves that finally find each other. But in truth, I’ve come...

A Story of Forgotten Signs and Rediscovery

Image
“ The flower I thought I chose had once chosen me. ” In February 2023, I stood quietly at the edge of a bushy, untended corner of my farm. Back then, the land was still taking shape and had the look of the wild. The terrain was raw, framed by tall trees, thick undergrowth, and scattered flowers that seemed to bloom wherever they pleased. I remember pausing to photograph a particular flower — tall, golden, radiant beneath the open sky. I didn’t know its name. I just knew I liked it. And then I forgot about it. The photo sank deep into my phone gallery like a leaf drifting on water. A moment passed and left behind. A Subtle Pull Across the Years Now, nearly two and a half years later, I’ve grown into a different rhythm with the land. My hands are more weathered, my senses more tuned. Farming is no longer just about planting and harvesting. It’s about listening to what the soil needs, to what the plants whisper, and to what nature quietly offers in return. The flower I capture...

My Blog Is Not for Casual Reading… But It’s Not Complicated Either

There are times when I wonder who exactly reads my words. Are they here out of curiosity, or are they searching for something deeper? This blog is not a place for quick entertainment, nor is it a collection of light reads to pass the time. But at the same time, I don’t write to complicate things. Clarity matters more than complexity. A Space for the Spiritually Curious This blog is for those who are on a journey—not necessarily in a religious sense, but in the pursuit of something beyond the ordinary. If you're looking for reflections that challenge, not just amuse, then you might find something here that speaks to you. Not for Light Reads, But Also Not Overcomplicated I don’t weave my thoughts into intellectual knots. Simplicity does not mean shallowness, just as depth does not require confusion. Some truths are best understood when spoken plainly. That is the kind of writing I choose. Universal but Meaningful While my words come from my own experiences, they are not bound b...

What Does Maturity Mean to Me

The journey of life often feels like navigating a labyrinth. Some paths seem endless, others loop back to where they started, and then there are those rare moments of clarity, where a door opens, and everything makes sense. It's in these moments that I’ve come to understand maturity—not as a destination but as an unfolding within me, a way of seeing life with new eyes. Maturity as Harmony Between Strength and Compassion I’ve noticed how often life demands a delicate balance between standing firm and showing kindness. Imagine a situation where a friend or colleague says something hurtful. The immediate reaction might be anger or defensiveness, but maturity lies in pausing and choosing to respond with understanding. Instead of escalating the situation, asking them why they feel that way could uncover their own struggles. By holding boundaries with strength while extending compassion, relationships can grow instead of fracture. This balance allows for harmony in even the most challeng...

Reflecting on the New Year

There’s something enchanting about the hours leading up to a new year. The air feels heavy with anticipation, as if the entire world is collectively holding its breath, waiting for a grand reset. Fireworks are prepared, resolutions are written, and hopes are pinned on the idea of starting fresh. But as I sit quietly with my thoughts, I realize that life doesn’t operate on the tick of a clock. Midnight doesn’t magically wipe the slate clean—it simply carries us forward, one moment flowing seamlessly into the next. Perhaps the new year isn’t about leaving the past behind but about embracing the journey we’re already on with renewed clarity and presence. Time as a Cycle Spiritually, I’ve been reflecting on how time isn’t a straight line but a cycle. Much like the phases of the moon, the rise and fall of tides, or the changing seasons, life doesn’t truly begin or end—it transforms. Each phase carries its own rhythm, its own lessons, and its own beauty. The new year, then, isn’t the start o...

One of the Books That Deeply Resonates with Me

Late December last year, I first read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, a philosophical and spiritual novel that has touched millions worldwide. Now, as another December comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on its profound lessons and how they continue to resonate with me a year later. The story revolves around a young Andalusian shepherd, Santiago who travels to the pyramids of Egypt to find a treasure he has recurrently dreamed about. On his journey, he has to overcome multiple obstacles—through which he learns valuable life lessons. It is more than just a tale of adventure; it is a profound reflection on life, purpose, and the universal pursuit of meaning. As I turned its pages, I couldn’t help but see my own journey mirrored in Santiago’s. One of the book’s most striking lessons is the idea of following one’s Personal Legend. Santiago’s unwavering commitment to his dream reminded me of the challenges I face in pursuing my purpose. At times, doubts and fears have clouded my ...

Reflecting on the Journey So Far

As I sit with my thoughts, I feel a quiet pull to reflect on how far I’ve come. The journey has been one of peeling back layers I didn’t even know existed, uncovering truths buried beneath the surface, and embracing what lies underneath. It hasn’t always been a straight path—there have been detours, pauses, and moments of doubt—but looking back, I can see how each step, no matter how small or challenging, has contributed to the larger picture. This moment of reflection feels like a necessary pause, a space to gather wisdom before moving forward—a moment to honor the delicate interplay of growth and stillness. Life as a Continuum of Wholeness and Layers One of the most profound realizations I’ve had is that life is not fragmented; it is a continuum—a seamless flow of interconnected experiences. Each moment, no matter how mundane, holds significance. For example, my daily practice of observing the subtle details—like the way light filters through leaves, the earthy scent of a rain-soaked...

Secret Ingredients

During the rainy season, I often prepare a cup of herbal tea that has become both a comfort and a remedy. The ingredients are humble yet profound: a couple of slices of fresh ginger to warm the body and invigorate the senses, a stick of  kayu manis (cinnamon stick) to reduce inflammation and promote steady circulation, a handful of cloves to soothe my toothache and freshen the breath, and a small handful of dried bunga kekwa (chrysanthemum) to calm the mind and reduce internal heat. I don’t add sugar, though; the tea’s raw flavors are enough to tell a story of balance—warming yet calming, grounding yet uplifting. This tea nourishes me on many levels. It strengthens my body against the chill and dampness of the season, restores my energy, and brings a sense of clarity to my spirit. The warmth of each sip offers a moment of comfort amidst the cold, while the flavors work their magic on both body and mind. Preparing and drinking it is more than just a routine; it feels like an act...

Dormancy Period

I’ve been spending a lot of time observing the plants on my farm, especially during the rainy season. One thing that has stood out to me is how the concept of a "dormancy period" is deeply woven into the natural rhythm of life. Dormancy isn’t just about inactivity; it’s a purposeful pause. It’s a phase where visible growth slows or stops, but vital processes continue beneath the surface. Plants use this time to conserve energy, strengthen their roots, and prepare for their next burst of life. Reflecting on this, I’ve come to see parallels between dormancy in plants and the moments in our lives where progress seems invisible or life feels still. Recently, I experienced this with my Booth 7 avocado tree, a hybrid variety I planted on my farm. It taught me lessons about patience, adaptation, and the beauty of quiet growth. Lessons from a Slow Start When I first planted my avocado tree, I was filled with anticipation. I imagined it thriving immediately in its new environment, but...
